"Craft", "Artisan", "Micro" and now "Nano" breweries are a growing trend in the craft beer industry. The Nano segment of craft brewing is growing fast with the majority of new breweries opening up falling into this small-scale, hyper-local segment.

The craft brewing process takes time and can be considered an art by the brewmasters. Society of Independent Brewer SIBA runs regional and national independent beer awards for cask, keg, bottled and canned beers, host regional meetings for the benefit of members as well as the UK’s biggest beer & brewing trade event BeerX UK in Liverpool. Brentwood Brewery in Essex was awarded the inaugural ‘Brewer in the Community Award’ in 2018 for outstanding contributions to their local community. In the United Kingdom, the "Assured Independent British Craft Brewer" initiative is run by SIBA, ensures that any breweries using the Independent Craft Brewer logo are relatively small, independent, and brewing quality beer.
